Niagara’s Population

An Overview
Many complex factors influence an individual’s health status or the health of an entire community. Population health models have long identified that health is influenced by a variety of factors including social, economic and physical environments, personal health practices, coping skills, as well as access to health services. In addition, changing demographics, advances in science, economic shifts and technological innovations impact future health needs. Understanding the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the residents of Niagara is an important step in developing a plan for how the Niagara Health System and its community partners will respond to changing health needs in both the short and long-term.
