Travel Maps

The location of NHS sites throughout Niagara means that the vast majority of our catchment population is within convenient driving distance to their community hospital, where emergency care, prompt/urgent care, walk-in clinics, outpatient and inpatient services provide a wide range of care, and will continue to do so. NHS community hospitals are located in the following municipalities: Fort Erie, Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Port Colborne, St. Catharines and Welland.

Our vision for the future includes creating Centres of Excellence so that, in addition to the above services mentioned, a specialized service would be offered at one or two hospital locations, such as specialized surgical services, women’s and children’s health, mental health, etc. These regional programs are proposed to be located throughout Niagara, with every site having a role that contributes to the overall health of the people of Niagara.

The Walker Family Cancer Centre will be at the future health-care complex in West St. Catharines, and some other services are proposed for this location to serve the region. The Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) has provided mapping methodology which shows that 90% of Niagara’s population is within a 30-minute drive to the St. Catharines’ First Street and Fourth Avenue location (near Highway 406). Please note that the drive time analysis follows the local road network under ideal driving conditions. It does not account for delays due to construction, traffic volume, weather or other barriers such as wait time at bridges.
