Effective Use of Patient Care Equipment

Patient care equipment and furnishings are made possible by the ongoing dedication and generosity of our 7 foundations and their donors, as well as the tremendous fundraising efforts of our local auxiliaries.
Medical technology is very costly and a key advantage of creating centres of excellence is the ability to reduce the need for duplicate or multiple purchases.

A number of important discussions will commence in the upcoming weeks with foundations and auxiliaries as our clinical programs assess what equipment and furnishings may need to be moved to support the ‘early opportunity’ moves that will take place over the next three to five months.

“One of our HIP guiding principles is that equipment has to move with the programs to ensure we make the best use of the scarce resources available to us,” explains Bala Kathiresan, Chief Operating Officer. “This is particularly relevant and important to programs like our surgical program and its specialties where patient care equipment typically costs tens of thousands of dollars.”

“We need to ensure the right equipment is available for our patients when they come to our sites for treatment.”
