Update on Hospital Improvement Plan
On October 28, 2008, Dr. Jack Kitts, the External Advisor to the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant (HNHB) Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) presented his recommendations on the Niagara Health System’s (NHS) Hospital Improvement Plan (HIP) to the LHIN Board of Directors at their regular monthly meeting held in Niagara Falls.
In May, the HNHB LHIN Board requested that the NHS produce and submit by July 15, 2008 a Hospital Improvement Plan (HIP) that would “ensure high quality service for the Niagara community while making the best use of available resources.” Dr. Jack Kitts was subsequently appointed by the LHIN Board as their External Advisor with a mandate to review the NHS plan including the plan’s impact and feasibility and to provide recommendations to the LHIN Board.
Dr. Kitts’s recommendations to the LHIN Board were independently developed by Dr. Kitts and his team following a comprehensive review of the NHS HIP, the subsequent community consultation report compiled by the NHS as well as the feedback from the community consultations conducted by Dr. Kitts and his team.
